MOBE Products Tips: I visited with Diamond Mastermind partner Annie Chia at the MOBE Film Studio in Kuala Lumpur, and she asked me a very important question. Annie wanted to know why someone who is new to affiliate marketing should buy front-end products from her, instead of purchasing it from a top consultant.

I totally understand where she’s coming from. I understand the concern that customers would rather buy from someone who is already making a large income from online marketing. The truth is, there is something incredibly valuable that Annie and others new to the business have to offer their customers: time.

My First $40,000 Investment

In my early twenties I decided to plunge headfirst into the world of digital marketing. There were a lot of options out there when it came to affiliate programs and educational systems, and I spoke with a few people from different companies before making my final decision.

The first person I met with was a real pro at online marketing. She was making $50,000 per month and her program seemed like the obvious choice for someone just getting into the industry. The second person I met hadn’t actually made any sales yet. Of course, I didn’t know that until much later. Despite her lack of sales, she’s the one I had a personal connection with, and she’s the one I trusted to show me the business model. I gave her my $40,000, and the rest is history. That wasn’t the winning business for me, but I still learned a lot. The point is, someone new to the business made a great sale, and so can you.

You Can Provide a Valuable Mentorship

Sure, you might be a new consultant, but you’ve still got all the education and knowledge you need to build a business. What you almost definitely have more of than the top earners out there is time, and that’s what clients are going to need from you.

A lot of people that are thinking about getting into the online marketing industry don’t just want a product to click and buy—they want hands-on attention and mentorship. That’s great, but that’s not necessarily something that every top marketer can give them. But YOU can, because whoever makes a purchase from you will be a member of your small, personalized team. You can make the most of your time management skills and create a strong partnership.

Think about your relationship with customers and future consultants as a mentorship. You provide the structure, systems, and goals, and the mentees provide the fresh energy and excitement. According to Forbes, case studies of mentorships showed that employees in a mentorship program were five times more likely to be promoted than their colleagues. Additionally, mentors themselves were six times more likely to receive promotions. 

Success Depends on Your Customer, Not You

In my opinion, success in this business depends 98 percent on the individual, and 2 percent on outside factors. In the end, your customer is only going to hit those big financial goals if he or she has the drive and determination to do so; all you can do is provide the right tools. It doesn’t matter whether an individual purchases from you or from a high-earning consultant—it’s up to them to do the work. Remember that!

As a consultant you have everything you need to do your job, and to help others learn to do the same. Stay confident, market your best assets, and customers will come.
